1. Extremely low thermal stability coefficient: During the measurement process, the heat conduction from the hand or slight adjustments in the ambient temperature have an extremely minimal impact on the size of the granite, ensuring that the reference does not drift during the micron-level operation of detecting parallelism.
2. Zero elastic deflection under load: Unlike metallic straightedges, granite exhibits no measurable elastic deformation—even under localized contact forces—thereby preserving strict linear straightness of the reference edge in the vertical plane.
3. Non-magnetic and electrostatically inert: The material is inherently non-ferromagnetic and possesses negligible surface charge retention, eliminating the risk of particulate adhesion (e.g., ferrous swarf or dust); this prevents spurious elevation of the workpiece and ensures measurement fidelity in high-precision parallelism assessment.

● Optical measurements with autocollimators
● Laser interferometers and laser trackers
● Electronic inclination levels (precision spirit levels)
