Mineral composite material is known as mineral casting, polymer concrete, resin concrete, ultra-high performance concrete, epoxy concrete, artificial granite (AG), epoxy granite, or artificial stone, which is a formulation of a high strength epoxy resin or cement system mixed with scientifically blended granite particles and some reinforcements. Mineral composite is an ideal material for precision machine tools as its superior vibration absorption, extremely high contour accuracy and shape integrity, very low thermal conductivity, excellent chemical resistance, etc.

Main features of mineral casting:

1. Raw materials: with the unique Jinan Black Granite (also called ‘JinanQing’ granite) particles as aggregate, which is world famous for high strength, high rigidity and high wear resistance;
2. Formula: with the unique reinforced epoxy resins and additives, different components using different formulations to ensure optimal comprehensive performance;
3. Mechanical properties: the vibration absorption is about 10 times that of cast iron, good static and dynamic properties;
4. Physical properties: density is about 1/3 of the cast iron, higher thermal barrier properties than metals, not hygroscopic, good thermal stability;
5. Chemical properties: higher corrosion resistance than metals, environmental friendly;
6. Dimensional accuracy: linear contraction after casting is about 0.1-0.3㎜/m, extremely high form and counter accuracy in all planes;
7. Structural integrity: very complex structure can be cast, while using natural granite usually requires assembling, splicing and bonding;
8. Slow thermal reaction: reacts to short term temperature changes is much slower and much less;
9. Embedded inserts: fasteners, pipes, cables and chambers can be embedded into the structure, inserts materials including metal, stone, ceramic and plastic etc.
