Application and Principle of Electronic Levels

Electronic levels operate on two principles: inductive and capacitive. Depending on the measurement direction, they can be categorized as one-dimensional or two-dimensional. The inductive principle: When the base of the level tilts due to the workpiece being measured, the movement of the internal pendulum causes a voltage change in the induction coil. The capacitive principle of the level involves a circular pendulum suspended freely on a thin wire, affected by gravity and suspended in a frictionless state. Electrodes are located on both sides of the pendulum, and when the gaps are the same, the capacitance is equal. However, if the level is affected by the workpiece being measured, the difference in the gaps between the two electrodes creates a difference in capacitance, resulting in an angle difference.

Electronic levels are used to measure the surfaces of high-precision machine tools such as NC lathes, milling machines, cutting machines, and 3D measuring machines. They have extremely high sensitivity, allowing for a 25-degree left or right offset during measurement, allowing measurement within a certain tilt range.

Electronic levels provide a simple and flexible method for inspecting scraped plates. The key to using an electronic level is determining the span length and corresponding bridge plate based on the size of the plate being inspected. The bridge plate’s movement must be continuous during the inspection process to ensure accurate measurements.
