Whether to choose Granite, Ceramic or Mineral Casting as a machine base or mechanical components?
If you want a machine base with high precision reaching μm grade, i advise you to granite machine base. Granite material has very good physical properties. Ceramic can not make big size machine base because of its price is too high and most of companies can not manufacture very big machine base using ceramic.
Mineral Cast can be used in cnc machines and laser machines, which physical properties are less than granite and ceramic. If you want operation precision not more than 10μm per m, and you need huge quantity of this kind of machine base (hundreds, and drawings will not change for long time), mineral casting is a nice choice.
Ceramic is an advanced material in precision industry. We can manufacture precision ceramic components within 2000mmm. But the price of ceramic is higher many times than granite components.
