Ask a sourcing engineer what worries them most about ordering an oversized precision granite structure, and the answer is rarely the price. It is a set of quieter questions: Can this factory actually machine a single piece twenty meters long? Will the geometry still hold after it reaches our site? What stands between a workshop floor in China and a sub-micron reference surface?
This article answers those questions with facts instead of adjectives – a walk through the ZHHIMG® manufacturing campus in Jinan, from the foundation under the floor to the crane above the machine.
Precision granite structures moving through the ZHHIMG® production line – oversized capacity is a system, not a single machine.
The Scale: Two Factories Built Around Oversized Work
ZHHIMG® operates two factories in Jinan, Shandong Province, covering approximately 200,000 m², with roughly 20,000 m² dedicated to natural stone storage. Raw granite blocks are stockpiled and allowed to stabilize outdoors for long periods before they are ever cut – because a large structure can only be as stable as the material inside it.
The capacity figures that matter to OEM buyers: single-piece machining up to about 100 tons, with maximum work envelopes of approximately 20 m in length, 4,000 mm in width and 1,000 mm in thickness. Few granite facilities anywhere can put a workpiece of that size under controlled machining, lapping and measurement in one location. You can see how these capabilities are organized on our factory capability page.
10,000 m² of Temperature and Humidity Control
Granite moves – not visibly, but measurably. A temperature gradient of one degree across a four-meter beam can bend its geometry by microns, which is enough to fail a sub-micron specification. That is why ZHHIMG® built a dedicated 10,000 m² constant-temperature and constant-humidity workshop, where lapping, measurement and final inspection happen inside a stabilized climate rather than next to an open door.
Temperature control alone is not enough. The floor itself is an instrument:
- 1,000 mm thick high-strength concrete foundations – a massively rigid base that resists ground-borne vibration and does not flex under heavy workpieces or moving cranes.
- 2,000 mm deep anti-vibration trenches surrounding the precision zones – cutting the transmission path of ground vibration from traffic, nearby machinery and the factory floor itself.
- Silent hoist cranes overhead – so lifting a 20-meter beam across the shop does not shake the reference surfaces being measured a few meters away.
The result is an environment where a measurement is a property of the workpiece – not of the time of day or the traffic outside. This is what “sub-micron environmental control” means in practice: the room is engineered as part of the machine.
The Machines Behind 100-Ton Single-Piece Capacity
Capacity claims are only as real as the equipment behind them. ZHHIMG®’s oversized machining cell is built around super-large grinding machines capable of lapping platforms up to approximately 6,000 mm in length, complemented by heavy-duty CNC machining centers for milling, drilling and threaded-insert work on large structures.
The workflow for a large granite machine bed runs from rough sawing and stress stabilization, through CNC contour and hole machining, to fine lapping of the reference surfaces – all on handling equipment rated for the full 100-ton class. Every step is documented in our granite manufacturing process, and every finished surface ships with measured flatness and geometry results, taken inside the climate-controlled zone with the instruments and conditions stated on the report.
A Dedicated Cleanroom Assembly Workshop for Semiconductor-Grade Projects
Machining is half of the story. The other half is assembly – where granite structures are integrated with metal parts, ceramic components, guideways, air-bearing units and motion modules into complete assemblies.
For semiconductor and other high-precision equipment projects, ZHHIMG® operates a dedicated constant-temperature, constant-humidity cleanroom assembly workshop. Assembly under controlled cleanliness matters for a practical reason: particles trapped between a granite surface and an mounted insert or guideway become permanent local stress – and local stress becomes geometry error after the assembly ships and cycles through temperature changes. Buyers can review the scope of our assembly, calibration and inspection services before committing a project.
What This Means for Your Next Oversized Order
If you are evaluating suppliers for a large granite base, a multi-meter gantry or an integrated precision assembly, the checklist is short and concrete:
- Can the factory machine, lap and measure your workpiece as a single piece – and at what weight and envelope?
- Is the measuring environment temperature-controlled, and on what foundation does it stand?
- Will you receive measured inspection data for the actual part, not a certificate template?
At ZHHIMG®, the answers are built into the campus: 200,000 m² of factory space, 100-ton single-piece capability, a 10,000 m² climate-controlled workshop on 1,000 mm concrete foundations with 2,000 mm anti-vibration trenches, and a cleanroom assembly line for semiconductor-grade integration.
For large granite machine beds, precision bases and integrated assemblies, ZHHIMG® offers engineering review before manufacturing. Send your drawing, weight, dimensions, accuracy requirement and destination port for evaluation.
