Most people looking at a CNC machine or a gantry-type measuring system focus on the spindle, the axes, the electronics. Rarely do they stop to think about the structure holding all of it together — and yet that structure is often the single biggest factor in whether the machine holds its rated accuracy over years of service, or slowly drifts out of spec within months. This ZHHIMG® granite gantry frame is built for the former.
Machined from a single granite mass rather than assembled from welded steel plate, this gantry structure gives CNC and precision motion systems a frame that doesn't carry the internal stresses, thermal distortion, or long-term creep that steel weldments are notorious for.

No residual stress to relax. Welded steel frames carry internal stresses from the welding process itself, which slowly release over months and years — quietly shifting the geometry of a frame that measured perfectly on day one. A granite gantry, machined from a single mass, simply doesn't have that problem.
Rigidity without resonance. Granite's high density gives the frame the mass needed to resist deflection under load, while its internal damping properties suppress vibration far more effectively than steel — a real advantage when a spindle or probe is moving at speed across the cantilever arm.
Thermal behavior you can actually predict. A gantry frame that expands unevenly under a temperature gradient will throw off positioning accuracy at the working end, exactly where you can least afford it. Granite's low, uniform thermal expansion keeps the geometry consistent as ambient conditions shift through the day.
Guideways integrated, not bolted on. Because the rail channels are machined directly into the granite bed, the guideway reference stays fixed relative to the rest of the structure — there's no separate steel rail base to work loose or shift alignment over time.

Can this gantry frame be built to match my existing machine design? Yes. Column height, cantilever arm length, rail spacing, and hole patterns are all made to order against your drawing or interface requirements.
How does a granite gantry compare to cast iron for this application? Cast iron is a long-standing choice in machine tool construction, but granite generally offers better vibration damping, lower thermal expansion, and no risk of the casting-related internal stress that can affect cast iron over time. For the most demanding accuracy requirements, granite is increasingly the preferred option.
What's the maximum size you can produce? Our equipment handles single workpieces up to 100 tons, with machining capacity up to 20m in length, 4,000mm in width, and 1,000mm in thickness — sufficient for the vast majority of gantry frame designs.
Do you provide installation or leveling guidance? Yes. Given the size and precision requirements of a structure like this, we provide guidance on floor requirements, leveling procedure, and installation best practices to make sure the frame performs to spec once it's in place.
Is calibration documentation included? Yes, calibration certificates are provided and traceable to national metrology institutes.
