Machine Alignment

What is a precision granite square used for?
It is used as a geometric reference for checks involving squareness or perpendicularity. Depending on its calibrated faces, it may also support parallelism checks. The exact capabilities should be established by the product drawing and inspection report.
Is this the same as a granite surface plate?
No. A granite square is selected for geometric relationships involving its reference faces, particularly right-angle checks. Do not substitute one tool for another without reviewing the measurement task and verified specifications.
Which size should I choose?
Start with the measuring length, available workspace, and intended orientation. Then consider instrument access, handling requirements, and the surfaces you need to inspect.
What accuracy does this model offer?
The image does not establish an accuracy value. Request the squareness tolerance, working-face flatness, and any required parallelism values for the selected size.
An accuracy statement should identify the measured characteristic and applicable length; “1 μm accuracy” alone does not fully define the specification.
What should the inspection report include?
Request the product identification, designated measuring faces, measured characteristics, results, applicable acceptance criteria, and inspection conditions. Confirm whether you need a manufacturer’s inspection report or a separate calibration service before ordering.
Are the four openings lifting points?
