A precision granite straight edge is not merely a measuring tool; it is the physical reference that helps a technician decide whether a machine or component is truly straight.
It is commonly used for:
- • Checking straightness of CNC machine guideways, linear rails and machine beds
- • Aligning precision assembly equipment, gantries and motion platforms
- • Inspecting flatness or local deviation with a dial indicator and surface plate

For example, during guideway installation, a technician can place the granite straightedge along the rail or reference surface and use a dial indicator to identify local high or low points. The result is a clear, repeatable alignment reference before final fastening and system commissioning. Granite straightedges are also used in surface-plate inspection and calibration contexts, where straightedge length should be selected in relation to the surface being evaluated

What is a precision granite straight edge used for?

How should a granite straightedge be supported?
Correct support is essential, particularly for long components. Support locations should be agreed according to the straightedge’s length, mass, structural design and measurement method. Avoid placing the tool on uneven points or allowing unsupported overhang that may affect the inspection result.
What information should I send for a quotation?
Please provide the required length, width, height, accuracy grade or tolerance, quantity, drawing if available, working environment, requested standard, calibration-document requirement and delivery destination.
