    A precision linear-motion system needs more than a high-quality rail. It needs a stable structural datum beneath the rail.

    The ZHHIMG® precision granite base with linear guide rail is designed for machine builders who require controlled guideway alignment, stable mounting geometry, and repeatable positioning performance. The granite structure provides a rigid foundation for linear rails, carriages, encoder systems, linear motors, air bearings, optical modules, wafer stages, and custom automation assemblies.

    The pictured component combines a custom-machined granite base with an installed linear guide rail and carriage. Its large working surface includes a dense pattern of mounting interfaces, allowing engineers to install sensors, fixtures, brackets, cable supports, covers, drive systems, and application-specific modules directly onto the granite structure.

    This is not a standard catalog part. Each granite linear-motion base can be manufactured to the customer’s drawing, including rail-seat geometry, insert patterns, locating features, pockets, cable channels, mounting bores, support arrangements, and inspection requirements.

    A solid, flat, and clean base is essential for linear-guide performance. If the rail mounting surface is uneven, the rail can bend during bolt tightening, reducing motion accuracy and potentially causing premature wear. A precision granite base helps create a controlled mounting condition before the stage, rail, and drive system are assembled.

    Can you install the linear guide rail before shipment?
    Guideway installation can be discussed as part of the project. The customer should specify the rail brand, model, accuracy class, bolt pattern, preload condition, required alignment, and whether the rail will be customer-supplied or sourced as part of the assembly.

    How accurate must the granite rail seat be?
    The required flatness, straightness, and parallelism should match the guide-rail class and overall machine-accuracy target. A rail mounted on an uneven base can bend when bolts are tightened, which affects motion smoothness and repeatability.

    Can the granite base include threaded inserts and dowel holes?
    Yes. Threaded inserts provide clamping force, while dowel holes, reamed bores, shoulders, or keys can provide repeatable location. Both should be dimensioned from functional machine datums.

    Yes. Granite can be machined with rail seats, motor pockets, air-bearing faces, scale mounts, cable channels, and insert patterns for integrated precision motion systems. The final structure should be designed around the load, travel, heat source, mounting method, and environmental requirements.

    How is the completed granite base inspected?
    Inspection may include overall dimensions, primary-face flatness, rail-seat straightness, rail-seat parallelism, perpendicularity, insert position, bore location, thread quality, and visual surface condition. The report format and acceptance criteria should be agreed before production.
