That is why squareness references remain essential in metrology, machine assembly, and precision alignment. The ZHHIMG® precision granite master square plate provides a stable 90-degree reference for checking perpendicularity, setting up fixtures, aligning linear-motion systems, and verifying geometric relationships between machine axes.
The product shown is a custom-machined granite square plate with four large lightening openings, precision-finished reference surfaces, metal mounting interfaces, and identification marking. The opening pattern reduces unnecessary mass while preserving a rigid granite structure. Its compact design is suitable for use on granite surface plates, CMM fixtures, machine tables, precision assembly stations, and calibration benches.
This is not limited to a standard catalog configuration. ZHHIMG® can manufacture custom granite square plates and granite angle standards according to customer drawings. Dimensions, thickness, measuring faces, bore pattern, threaded inserts, lightening openings, mounting interfaces, squareness tolerance, and inspection documentation can all be specified for the intended application.
Granite angle standards are used to inspect perpendicularity and right-angle relationships in machine components and measurement setups. Granite is commonly selected because it offers long-term dimensional stability, low thermal expansion, corrosion resistance, non-magnetic behavior, and stable precision reference faces.

What is a precision granite master square plate used for?
It is used as a stable angular reference for checking and setting perpendicularity, squareness, straightness, and alignment in machines, fixtures, and metrology systems.
Why use granite instead of a steel square?

What are the four large circular openings for?

Can this granite square be used for CMM or machine-axis calibration?
Yes. It can be used as a reference artifact for CMM setup, linear-stage alignment, gantry squareness checks, and machine maintenance, provided its size and certified accuracy match the required measurement uncertainty.
How should the granite square plate be maintained?
Keep the reference faces clean, avoid impact and edge loading, store the component on approved support points, protect it from scratches, and arrange periodic calibration based on usage and required accuracy.
