Precision Granite Component – Custom High-Accuracy Granite Machine Base
Material selection is the starting point of precision.
ZHHIMG® uses its proprietary ZHHIMG® Black Granite, with a density of approximately 3100 kg/m³. Its high density, rigidity, dimensional stability, vibration-damping capability, and resistance to corrosion make it suitable for demanding precision engineering applications.
Unlike ordinary stone products or low-cost marble substitutes, precision granite components require carefully selected material with appropriate physical and geometric properties.
For equipment manufacturers, the objective is not simply to obtain a black granite part. The objective is to obtain a stable mechanical reference that continues to support equipment accuracy over time.
ZHHIMG® therefore controls the process from material selection and rough machining through precision grinding, lapping, dimensional inspection, and final quality verification.

1. High Dimensional Stability
Granite is widely used in precision metrology and machine structures because of its stability and resistance to environmental changes. Precision granite products are commonly selected where flatness, straightness, parallelism, perpendicularity, and long-term geometric stability are important.
ZHHIMG® Black Granite is selected specifically for demanding precision applications.
2. Excellent Vibration Damping
Precision equipment can be affected by environmental vibration, machine-generated vibration, and dynamic movement.
The dense crystalline structure of granite provides useful vibration-damping characteristics, helping create a more stable foundation for:

What is a precision granite component?
A precision granite component is a custom-machined granite structural or measurement component manufactured to defined dimensional and geometric tolerances. It can include precision bases, machine structures, mounting plates, guideway components, CMM structures, and other OEM parts.
Why is granite used for precision machine components?
Granite offers useful combinations of dimensional stability, rigidity, vibration damping, corrosion resistance, and low thermal expansion. These characteristics make it suitable for precision metrology, inspection, positioning, and machine structures.
Can ZHHIMG® manufacture granite components according to drawings?
Yes. Custom geometry, mounting holes, threaded inserts, recesses, reference surfaces, and other features can be manufactured according to customer drawings and application requirements.
What file formats can I send for quotation?
Engineering drawings can be provided in formats such as CAD, STEP, PDF, together with the required tolerance and inspection specifications.
Can large granite components be manufactured?
Yes. ZHHIMG® has large-format manufacturing capabilities, including components up to approximately 20 m in length, 4,000 mm in width, 1,000 mm in thickness, and up to 100 tons per single piece, subject to the specific geometry and manufacturing requirements.
How accurate can a precision granite component be?
The achievable accuracy depends on component size, geometry, material, mounting conditions, surface requirements, and the applicable standard. Rather than assigning one universal tolerance, ZHHIMG® defines the final tolerance according to the engineering drawing and intended application.
Can threaded inserts be installed into granite?
Yes. Threaded inserts, bushings, mounting holes, counterbores, and other interfaces can be incorporated according to the customer's design.
How is granite component flatness inspected?
Inspection methods depend on the required accuracy, component size, and applicable standard. Precision granite measurement commonly uses calibrated metrology equipment and appropriate geometric measurement methods. ASME B89.3.7 is one recognized reference for granite surface plate accuracy and calibration in North American practice.
Is ZHHIMG® granite suitable for semiconductor equipment?
ZHHIMG® precision granite components are designed for demanding applications including semiconductor inspection, optical systems, precision positioning, CMMs, and laser equipment. The final material, geometry, surface specification, mounting design, and environmental requirements should be evaluated according to the specific equipment application.
